The Black Women Lawyers’ Association of Greater Chicago Book Scholarship
Description: This year, the Black Women Lawyers’ Association Scholarship Fund (BWLA-SF) will distribute four $1,000 book scholarships to deserving students to help ease the financial demands of law school. Winners will be announced in early November 2014.
Requirements: Submit a copy of transcript/letter of good standing and an application demonstrating an unmet financial need and commitment to public service or diversity via email to scholarship@bwla.org.
Award: $1,000

University of Missouri & the Center for the Study of Dispute Resolution Writing Competition
Description: A student writing competition is being organized in conjunction with the annual symposium convened by the Center for the Study of Dispute Resolution at the University of Missouri School of Law.
Requirements: Submissions should bear some relationship to the history of dispute or conflict resolution, broadly defined. Topics may therefore consider issues relating to the historic development of international or domestic negotiation, mediation, conciliation and/or arbitration, among other things. There is no requirement that papers discuss U.S. law. Papers should be between 15 – 50 pages.
Award: $500

Securities Law Writing Competition
Topic: Any subject in the field of securities law Eligibility: Students enrolled at any accredited law school in the United State for the fall semester of 2015. Unpublished papers, papers published in any law journal or other publication during calendar year 2015, and papers scheduled for publication in 2015 or 2016 are eligible for submission. Co-authored papers are not eligible.
Requirements: All submissions must include author’s name and contact information, including e-mail, postal address, telephone number, law school, and year of anticipated graduation. For submissions which have been published or are scheduled to be published, the name and date of publication should be included.
Award: 1st place: $5,000; 2nd Place: $3,000; 3rd Place: $2,000

2015 Chapman LLC Scholarship for Law Students
Description: As an investment firm, we care constantly fighting to recoup money from people who have wronged the investors we represent. There is no feeling in the world like helping someone win back their retirement or life savings.
Requirements: In 500-750 word essay, tell us about a time in your life where you helped someone and the way that positively impacted your life. Completed Scholarship Application (See website below to access). An acceptance letter from an accredited law school in the U.S. (new students) or an unofficial transcript from an accredited law school in the U.S.
Award: $1,000 check will be made to the scholarship recipient’s law school of choice to cover expenses.
