Third Thursdays Coming This Semester

Join us for Third Thursdays, a series of special presentations that will take place on the third Thursday of every month in the Riley Courtroom from 4:00 – 5:00 p.m. with receptions to follow at Fatty’s Pub & Grille in DeKalb immediately after at 5:00.

  • January 19, 2017 - Alumni Ed Underhill and Gerald Morel of Masuda Funai will discuss the history of their firm which was founded in 1929 and was built on representing international companies entering, operating and investing in the United States.
  • February 16, 2017 - Professor Yolanda King, attorney Brie Crawford and tattoo artist Chris May will discuss tattoos as intellectual property.
  • March 23, 2017 - Irakere Pic√≥n, the first undocumented immigrant to practice law in Illinois and a 2015 Northern Law graduate, will share his story of going from immigrant to attorney to activist.
  • April 20, 2017 - In recognition of 4/20 and the controversy surrounding marijuana use, Caprice Sweatt, founder & CEO of Medical Cannabis Outreach, and Dan Linn, executive director of Illinois NORML, will discuss the legal issues related to marijuana’s legalization and the state of the laws in Illinois.
