Scholarship Deadlines Coming Up This Week

Berkley Technology Law Journal Writing Competition
Areas of Interest: Topics at the intersection of law and technology, including but not limited to: intellectual property, antitrust, First Amendment, entertainment and new media, information privacy/data protection, telecommunications, biotechnology, internet, and cybercrime.
Criteria: Submit a previously unpublished paper no more than 50 pages long with a signed cover sheet that must be printed off the website.
Award: 1st Prize: $2,000 and publication in the Fall 2014 issue of BTLJ, 2nd Prize: $750, 3rd Prize: $500 Deadline: March 1, 2014

The National Italian American Foundation John R. Mott Scholarship 
Areas of Interest: Students or parent or guardian of student must be a member of NIAF.
Criteria: Italian American students who demonstrate outstanding potential and high academic achievements in any area of study or level of education. Scholarships are awarded to undergraduate, graduate, post graduate, medical, dental, and legal students.
Award: Scholarship awards range from $2,000-$12,000

Areas of Interest: Demonstrated interest in public finance law and an interest in working with state and local governments
Criteria: Applicants must submit the application, proof of current enrollment, law transcript, and resume. Award: Expense paid trip to the Fundamentals of Municipal Law Seminar in Atlanta Georgia (5 Awards) Deadline: March 3, 2014

American Bankruptcy Institute Student Writing Competition
Areas of Interest: Bankruptcy jurisdiction, bankruptcy litigation, or evidence in bankruptcy cases or proceedings, bankruptcy sales, plan confirmation and other bankruptcy involved topics.
Criteria: Papers must have been written after March 1, 2013. Papers can have been written as part of legal writing or bankruptcy courses.
Award: First Place: $2,000 and publication of paper in ABI Journal. Second Place: $1,250 plus publication in the ABI committee newsletter. Third Place: $750 and publication in the ABI committee newsletter. All student participants will be provided a one-year ABI membership.

William C. Conner Intellectual Property Law Writing Competition
Areas of Interest: Intellectual Property, Patents, Trademarks, Copyrights, trade secrets, unfair trade practices and antitrust.
Criteria: 20 page maximum. Entries will be judged on analysis, writing ability and pertinence.
Award: 1st Place: $1,500 and a plaque at the NYIPLA Annual Meeting and Dinner held in New York City on May 20, 2014 at the Princeton Club. Runner-up will receive a cash award of $1,000 and a plaque. Winning paper will be considered for publication by the NYIPLA. Both winner and runner-up should plan to attend the Annual Meeting and Dinner.

Areas of Interest: Upper division and graduate students at NIU who make major contributions to NIU Women’s Studies and/or lives of women at NIU.
